Due to restricted entry/exit points, poor ventilation, and the potential for toxic atmospheres, specialized knowledge is essential to prevent fatalities. Course Objectives and Coverage

Our training program equips workers, supervisors, and rescue teams with the skills necessary to safely plan, execute, and monitor confined space entries.

  • Hazard Identification: Learn to recognize atmospheric hazards (asphyxiating, toxic, flammable) and physical hazards (engulfment, mechanical energy) associated with confined spaces.
  • Permit-Required Confined Spaces: Understand the strict procedures for issuing, managing, and closing confined space entry permits. We cover the roles of the Entrant, Attendant, and Entry Supervisor in detail.
  • Atmospheric Testing and Ventilation: Hands-on instruction on using gas monitors to test for oxygen deficiency, LEL (Lower Explosive Limit), and toxic gases before and during entry. Learn proper purging and continuous forced-air ventilation techniques.
  • Isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): Ensure the space is completely isolated from hazardous energy sources and material flow before anyone enters.
  • Emergency Rescue Procedures: Recognizing that over 60% of confined space fatalities are would-be rescuers, we heavily emphasize non-entry rescue systems (tripods, winches, body harnesses) and the protocol for calling specialized rescue teams.
