What is Hazard indices ?
Hazard indices are comparative methods. Comparative techniques are based on hazard identification (HAZID) by comparing with standards. The various methods are checklists, safety audits, hazard indices, and preliminary hazard analysis.
| Purpose | For recognizing relative hazards |
| Applicability | In plant or process design and operation phase used as an early screening technique for fire/ explosion potential. |
| Data required | Plot plan of a unit, process flow condition, Fire and Explosion Index, Risk Analysis, Worksheets. |
| Results | Comparative Quantitative ranking of plant process units based on degree of risk. |
