What is Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP)?

These methods are an organized way of engaging a group of individuals to apply intuition alongside their knowledge to the task of identifying the risks essentially by raising a series of questions. These techniques have the advantage that they can be used whether the Codes of training are available for a process. The main methods available in this family of methods are What-if Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP).
