What is What-if analysis ?

These methods are organized ways of engaging a group of individuals who apply practical knowledge and expertise to identify hazards by raising a series of questions. These methods have the advantage that they can be used whether formal codes of practice are available for a process. The main methods in this family are What-if Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP).
